YS Stargazing Workshop with Augmented Reality
Eligibility: Class V & above
The online session will first provide the tools and training to use a direction chart and homemade sextant. The sextant is an instrument used to measure the angle of the line of sight. With these tools, an amateur astronomer can communicate with others about the direction they are facing to locate a celestial object.
This workshop in astronomy will use: Sky Walk 2 .
It’s a free, mobile app that uses Augmented Reality to simulate stargazing through a telescope.
Note:
- Participants are requested to use an android mobile phone or a tablet on which they can comfortably run Sky Walk 2. This app is not available on the iPhone.
- Instructions to make the sextant and direction chart will be provided to those who register. You’ll have to print the chart and use simple craft to complete the project.
