Tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika
Assam Association Chennai organized a grand cultural program in memory of the legendary musician, Sudhakantha, Bharat Ratna, Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Before the cultural evening began, a dance competition for children was conducted. The program started with the lighting of the lamp and floral tributes. Along with Sudhakantha, tribute was also paid to the late Zubeen Garg.
Addressing the gathering, Brindaban Bordoloi, General Secretary of Assam Association Chennai, and President Gautam Deuri shared their thoughts.
The event featured songs, dances, and instrumental performances that created a captivating atmosphere. The main attractions included group and solo songs, solo dances, and synchronized instrumental music by the children. There were also group songs by senior members, solo and duet performances, and a dance performance by the women’s group. Invited members from Bengal South Madras and Bengal T Nagar also presented dance and music items.
The entire cultural program was smoothly coordinated by the Cultural Committee led by Barnali Bailung. Another highlight of the evening was the wall magazine on Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s life, prepared by the Magazine Committee under the leadership of Nilam Sharma.
It is also noteworthy that the children who participated in the tribute program held earlier on 8 September, on the occasion of Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s birth anniversary, were felicitated by the Youth and Child Development Committee led by Mowkunhi Baruah.
