Gandhigram Trust’s Samhita products on sale
~ Customers can buy contemporary Khadi readymade apparel, handmade block printed sarees, food items, personal care and home care products
Gandhigram Trust is organising an exhibition of their Khadi readymade clothing range – Samhita – on the 6th and 7th of September, 2024 at CP Arts Centre, Eldams Road, Chennai from 10 am to 8 pm on both the days.
The apparel line, launched in 2023, has 100% hand-spun and hand-woven products which include tops, kurtas, dresses and jumpsuits for women, and shirts for men. Sourced from skilled artisan and craftsmen and designed by leading designers, Samhita has been getting great response from customers who love to purchase traditional Indian handlooms with a modern twist.
Apart from Samhita products, there will also be Muslin sarees, Kalamkari fabrics, Indigo and naturally-dyed fabrics, hand-block printed towels and fabrics. This year, handmade block printed saris are an impressive addition which is sure to lure saree lovers. Honey, flavoured honey, juices, edible oils, health mix, spice powders, pickles, shampoos, soaps, detergents and cleaners will be available for sale.
All the sales proceeds of the exhibition will go towards development initiatives of Gandhigram Trust, which was established in 1947 under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, with the objective of building an independent and self-reliant rural India. In line with the strong principles of Gandhiji, Khadi production is the prime focus of the Trust which is looking to help expand Khadi usage for the benefit of spinners and weavers.
