“Otrumaiyan Oosai”
In a vibrant demonstration of solidarity and social responsibility, cadets from The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University National Cadet Corps (NCC) hosted an impactful event titled “Otrumaiyan Oosai” at St. Mark’s High School, Adambakkam, Chennai. The initiative, conducted between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., focused on the theme “Inclusive Society,” aiming to empower differently abled individuals and nurture a spirit of empathy and respect among young minds.
The program opened with an introduction to the event’s vision, highlighting the need for community awareness and the importance of celebrating achievements of persons with disabilities. The highlight of the proceedings included a compelling mime performance depicting everyday challenges faced by differently abled people, drawing thoughtful reactions from students and educators.
In a bid to promote inclusive communication, cadets conducted an interactive sign language session for the students. Participants enthusiastically learned basic signs, underscoring the message that language should never be a barrier to understanding and acceptance. Further, the audience was engaged with vibrant flashcards illustrating the remarkable achievements of renowned differently abled personalities from across the nation. The event concluded with the presentation and explanation of a specially curated chart featuring inspiring achievers who have overcome physical challenges through their talent and determination.
Organizers emphasized the need to reject mockery or stigma associated with disabilities. The event’s facilitators encouraged everyone to foster environments of respect and equal opportunity, regardless of physical or mental ability.
