Digital Empowerment Program for Senior Citizens
The Golden Connect and Center for Ageing, (Madras School of Social Work) have launched a Digital Empowerment Program for Senior Citizens. The initiative aims to equip senior citizens with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate today’s technology-driven world, empowering them to stay independent, safe, and connected.
The program consists of four Saturday sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours, providing ample time to practice and master learned skills. With a personalized 1:3 volunteer-learner ratio, senior citizens will receive guidance on the use of their own smartphones, tablets, or laptops. The program will be tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring that they receive the support they require to learn at their pace. Additionally, the program emphasizes community building by encouraging student volunteers of MSSW to participate, allowing senior citizens and volunteers to learn from each other while developing meaningful relationships.
The Golden Connect is a volunteer-driven community that promotes the holistic development and emotional well-being of senior citizens, believing that age is just a number. The community meets online and in-person for a variety of events ranging from wellness and music to festival celebrations and personal growth.
The Digital Empowerment Program for Senior Citizens provides an excellent opportunity for senior citizens interested in learning more about everyday technology to join a supportive and engaging community.
