Ma Subramanian inaugurates Sevalaya's Thillaiyadi Valliammai Medical centre and Mobile Medical Van

Sevalaya’s Thillaiyadi Medical center and Mobile Medical services were inaugurated at Thillaiyadi village by Ma Subramanian Honorable Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The medical center with a full-time doctor and a nurse will provide medical services to the villagers. The Mobile medical van sponsored by DTCC will be visiting the nearby villages, taking health care to the doorsteps of the underprivileged people.



The Honorable Minister praised Sevalaya for his efforts in providing healthcare and education services to the underprivileged. He appreciated Sevalaya’s decision to open the medical center in Thillaiyadi and expressed his hope that it will grow into a Multi-specialty hospital. This initiative will benefit the villagers very much. He also assured to provide support for Sevalaya’s initiatives.

Sevalaya Murali spoke about the sacrifices made by Thillaiyadi Valliammai during the Satyagraha in South Africa under the leadership of Gandhiji.

She was imprisoned several times during the freedom struggle. Due to the harsh treatment in prison, her health deteriorated and she died at the age of 16. Sevalaya has started this health initiative in memory of the freedom fighter Thillaiyadi Valliammai. The main focus of the health center will be addressing the health issues of adolescent girls and women.

 M Nivedha Murugan Member of Legislative Assembly- Poombhukar, R Lalitha, IAS, District Collector,

Rapiya Narghis Abdul Malik, District  Union councilor, Jayanthi Karthikeyan , Union Member, and A Rangaraj, Panchayat President, Thillaiyadi participated in the function.

Earlier on the same day Awareness program on Menstrual Hygiene was conducted by Sevalaya for 300+ girls studying from Std X to XII in Thillaiyadi Valliammai Government High School, and Thirukadaiyur Government High School Mayiladuthurai district. The project was sponsored by Amrutanjan Healthcare Limited.



In Kanchipuram, thiruvallur, and thanjavur districts also similar programs were conducted.

2000+ Kits worth Rs 5 Lakhs were distributed to all the students, in total. Each kit has 6 packs of sanitary pads and a health pack consisting of dates, almonds, walnuts, two soaps and a pack of wet wipes.

Sevalaya is carrying out such programs for adolescent girls, to celebrate the memory of thilliyadi valliammai, who passed away at the age of 16.
