Every eye donor can be a potential skin donor
Every eye donor can be a potential skin donor, say doctors. However there is not much awareness about Skin donation which is the same like eye donation post a person’s death. Such kind of donation help the burn victims to recover faster as well as help to prevent Septicaemia and metabolic imbalances. Dressing wounds daily can be a painful procedure, and using such skin grafts can reduce the pain.
Many think twice to donate skin of their deceased relative due to the fear of disfigurement. Actually the skin is retrieved from the hidden parts, particularly from the thighs, and is superficial only 0.6 to 0.8 mm of skin is retrieved from donors. The harvested skin is screened for infectious organisms and can be stored in glycerol for five years.
To increase the awareness and improve the number of people to come forward to be a skin donor like eye donor, Rotary clubs of Mumbai Borivali East and Delhi Shahdara and other Rotary clubs pan India along National Burns Center is conducting an Essay Writing competition. Rotary Club of Chennai Thiruvanmiyur has taken the noble task of reaching out the Chennai and its suburbs.
“Skin Donation – A brief & its Importance”
We invite your views to incorporate in essays, “ How can you spread the awareness for skin donation” and this will be one of the criteria to select the winners.
Our competition shall be divided into 3 groups as below:
Group 1 : Age 12 years to 16 years (Max 500 Words for essay)
Group 2 : Age 16 years to 30 Years (Max 750 words for essay)
Group 3 : Age above 30 Years (Max 1000 words for essay)
Guideline for Essays as below:
1) Essays must be typed and submitted in PDF Format and should be sent to skindonationrcct@gmail.com
2) Participants must be Indian Citizen and residing in India.
3) Copy Paste from Internet shall make entry void
4) Essays must be submitted on or before 15th August 2020 by 12.00 Midnight
5) Essays must contain the following details in on the top of the sheet as well as in the body of the email, otherwise entry shall be void.

- Name of Father/Mother/guardina
- Address
- DOB
- Mobile No
- Email ID
- Age group
- Language chosen
6) Essays can be in English or Hindi: Cash prize money as below along with Certificate of participation to every participant
1st Prize :Rs 11000/-
2nd Prize :Rs 5500/-
3rd Prize : Rs 3000/-
10 consolation prizes of Rs 1100/- each
