MINI-MARATHON FOR CANCER AWARENESS

A successful Mini-Marathon, ‘Run for a Cause’ was organized by YRC & RRC of Annai Violet Arts and Science College on Saturday, 3rd February 2024, to raise awareness about cancer among the public. The primary goal was to educate and encourage a healthier lifestyle while emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment.



PMJF Lion Rajesh N Dave, District Governor – District 324-K, shared valuable insights and flagged off the event. Dr. Gopal from Prashant hospitals was the Guest for the day. Around 1000 students, actively participated in the mini-marathon, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to the cause. A total distance of 5 Kms was covered from College to Patravakkam Station taking a U-Turn towards Kallikuppam and to the College. Prior to the marathon, informative campaigns were conducted across the campus and surrounding areas, utilizing posters, social media, and community outreach to educate people about cancer prevention, symptoms, and available support.

The first five winners among girls are Ms. R. Menaka, III B. Sc Biochemistry, Ms. N. Rajeswari, and Ms. V. Logeswari of II B. Com, Ms. R. Priya, I Biochemistry, and Ms. V. Thilakavathy of II B. Sc Chemistry.




Among Boys, the first and third was bagged by Mr. R. Ramesh, and Mr. P. V. Pradeep of II B.A. English, the Second place by Mr. R. Roshan of I BCA, the Fourth by C. Karthikeyan of II B. Sc Biochemistry and the Fifth by Mr. V. Baskaran of II B. Com Accounting and Finance.

The marathon successfully engaged the community about cancer prevention and creating a sense of unity in the fight against the disease. Participants were made aware of the disease, empowering them to make informed lifestyle choices and encouraging regular health check-ups.

The event served as a powerful platform to unite the community in the battle against cancer. Through a combination of physical activity, the event left a lasting impact on both participants and the broader public, reinforcing the importance of awareness, prevention, and support in the fight against cancer.

PMJF Lion Mr. N.R.D. Premkumar, the College Secretary, MJF Lion Mr. Praveen Kumar, MJF Lion Mrs. Gayathri, Lion Dr. Nancy Praveen witnessed the event.

Followed by Mini-Marathon, a Plogathon was organized where the NCC and NSS students of the College cleaned the entire campus.
