Stella Maris College organises a 4-Day Mental Health Awareness Programme
The Department of Psychology, Stella Maris College, Chennai in association with the Students Union and PSY HUB – Brain and Behaviour Clinic, organized mental health awareness outside the college premises along Cathedral Road today.
This marks the beginning of a four day long program that the Psychology Department has planned in observance of the mental health day. This initiative has been made to reduce the stigma to mental health problems and increase the understanding of the same.
Ms. Divya Dovina, Head of the Department of Psychology, Stella Maris College, Chennai says, “Mental health is not just influenced by the individual’s characteristics; the social support and the community play a crucial role. Considering the demand-supply ratio of mental health practitioners in India, it is vital to debunk the myths about psychology and encourage many more skilled professionals in the field.” She acknowledged the constant support and encouragement received from Dr Sr. Rosy Joseph, Principal Stella Maris College, Chennai and Sr. Susan Matheikal, Secretary Stella Maris College, Chennai.
The Psychology Department has planned series of competitions, events and rallies within the college premises that conclude with a talk on mental health by Dr. Nappinai Seran on 19th October 2019 (Saturday) at Stella Maris College.
