Screening awareness program for primary school students
Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy (SIMATS) students and occupational therapists performed a screening awareness program for more than *3071* primary school students in the districts of Kanchipuram, Chennai, Thiruvallur, and Chengalpattu, on 21.11.2022, to identify the difficulties of students in reading, writing, behaviour, school environment, social relationships & physical and mental difficulties at early stages.
This program was organized for a social cause to create awareness for the parents, teachers, and students of primary school students on early intervention and it is being recognized by the Kalams World Record and they presented the medal and certificate to the Honourable Chancellor of SIMATS Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan, the Director of SIMATS Dr.Deepak Nallaswamy, Principal Dr.M.Arun Kumar, Faculty and students of Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy at SIMATS, Thandalam.
SIMATS continue to do the screening program to school students all over Tamilnadu and it would benefit thousands of students to improve their academic performances and learning skills.
By doing the screening procedure, the school management would be able to identify a student having difficulties in the educational aspect. The educational aspect such the child having difficulty understanding a concept, the Child having difficulties in holding a pencil and writing down, understanding a mathematical problem, and there can be a problem in the identification of objects.
Occupational therapists have a vital role in helping children to achieve their potential.
