Pongal celebration
Shri Mangichand Bhandari Jain Higher Secondary School celebrated Pongal at its premises in the august presence of the Correspondent Shri Kishan Jain Srisrimal ji, the Secretary Shri Nirmal Naharji, the headmistress, staff, and students in a festive and exuberant style.
The ingredients necessitated to prepare Pongal was put together, cleaned, washed, and infused in the earthen pots decorated with fresh turmeric tied around it and cooked under the anxious, yearning, and ardent eyes of all.
‘Rangoli’ and ‘Well out of waste’ competitions were conducted for students of all grades. They participated cheerfully and blissfully. Once the sweet pudding was done it was offered to the Sun god to seek his blessings for the year ahead after the ‘kummi’ dance. Later on, it was dished out to the students and they devoured it gracefully. Meanwhile ‘ Uri adi’- breaking the earthen pot tied up, when blindfolded was organized for guests, teachers, and students.
Jallikattu was conducted for the students to illuminate the tradition and culture of Tamilnadu. A few students dressed up like bulls to add further ambiance. The students took part in this majestic celebration wholeheartedly and learned the importance of Pongal.
