Eye care champion and social activist takes lifelong crusade against blindness to his daughter’s wedding!
Dr. A.Mahalingam popularly as ‘Mahali’ in medical and academic circles in national and International circles and well known eye care professional, health educator and awareness champion, and Founder Cum President of the AHMPI (Association for Healthcare Management Professionals – India) & Managing Director – TwinTech Academy Business Management Solutions, Chennai.
He performed the wedding of his elder daughter Ms. Maanasi Mahalingam a Post Graduate in Optometry and FAAO(Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry) certified optometrist at Avadi on the 8th of August 2022.
A senior eye care professional and Healthcare administrator Dr. A.Mahalingam has been at the forefront of creating awareness on overall eye health, and preventable blindness through his talks at campuses and among the general public and his highly informative articles, a man who strongly believes in ‘Walking the Talk’ he has been a passionate foot soldier who has facilitated large scale eye donation through his lifelong endeavors.
Dr. A Mahalingam realized that the large gathering at his daughter’s wedding reception could be a potential venue to communicate and reach out his noble message on Eye Donation.
The marriage hall was converted into an awareness creation camp with a large welcome board to guests carrying a message imploring them to take their eye donation pledge and a volunteer distributing the ‘pledge forms’ to them.
The ‘Reciprocal Host Gift’ bags presented to guests reiterated and gently reminded invitees on this noble gesture with a crisp Eye Donation appeal message. It is noteworthy to mention that the period between August 25th to Sept 8th is observed as ‘Eye Donation Fortnight’ every year, a period when the eye care champion is on his toes 24 by 7, year after year.
This year August 8th the date of the grand finale of the eye donation thrust became the most memorable day of the eye care crusader’s life as he made his clarion call to bring back the light of vision on the day of his daughter’s wedding!
