VELAMMAL STUDENTS CREATED ELECTION AWARENESS THROUGH SAND ART
Ahead of the upcoming State Assembly Elections, Students of Velammal Vidyalaya (Annexure), Sr. Secondary School, Mel Aynambakkam, resorted to an innovative way of creating an impressive sand sculpture measuring 400 sqft at Vivekananda Memorial, Marina Beach on 2nd April 2021 that aimed to woo voters to exercise their democratic right to vote. The Sand Art was unveiled by our Chief Guest Shri. G. Prakash, I.A.S., Commissioner, Chennai Corporation, (District Election Officer), who applauded the spirit of the students’ mammoth sand art, which emphasized voting is important.
The Sand Art expressed the notion ‘Your vote! Your Voice!’ with a spectacular image depicting a voter’s finger that symbolized the action needed by every voter. The Dignitaries Shri. Shankar Lal Kumawat, I.A.S., Joint Commissioner (Education), Shri. Meghanath Reddy I.A.S, Deputy Commissioner (R&F), Greater Chennai Corporation, Shri. Sridhar, I.A.S, Regional Deputy Commissioner (Central), Chennai Corporation, Shri Aari Arujunan (Bigg Boss Tamil 4 title winner, Actor), and Shri. The magnificent cube arrangement of the electronic voting machine stole the show. The onlookers were awestruck. The ultimate objective was materialized in creating awareness among voters and to accomplish their responsibility as a citizen by the right action at the right time.
As a part of corporate social responsibility, Velammal has taken an effort to organize this event. Parents applauded the school management for their remarkable effort.
