Green Trends salon commits to donate 100 wigs to Adyar Cancer Institute for underprivileged cancer patients as part of its CSR initiative
- Kickstarting the hair donation drive in Chennai, the salon chain delivered the first batch of 50 wigs on 4th February ’22 World Cancer Day ~
- The brand also announced that their salons are now accepting hair donation between 4th February to 4th March ’22 as part of its next wig handover initiative.
Commemorating World Cancer day on February 4th, Green Trends salon, India’s leading professional salon chain, as part of its annual CSR initiative – Shair, today announced that their salons are now accepting hair donation between 4th February to 4th March ’22. Green Trends Salon also handed over, natural hair wigs to the prestigious Adyar Cancer Institute on 3rd February that is set to benefit 100 survivors to kickstart its 6th year of hair & wig donation initiative.
Commenting on the start of accepting hair donation at Green Trends salons ,Mr. Deepak Praveen, COO – Green Trends salon, said “Shair is a CSR initiative that is close to our heart at Green Trends. Launched on World Cancer Day, February 4, 2015, Green Trends salon has run its hair donation and wig hand over program for 5 successful years spreading awareness for the cause across the country. The annual CSR activity of Green Trends salon, the biggest hair donation initiative in the Country has taken an ambitious vision to create awareness & extend support to a noble cause of spreading hope and courage to underprivileged cancer survivors by offering wigs made of natural human hair by conducting hair donation drives at its salons &conducting camps to collect hair and to create an ecosystem where donors can donate their hair, without any fear. The program was rechristened as SHAIR in 2019 and has been continuing to spread the message of hair donation.” He also mentioned “Green Trends’ Shair is a first of its kind donation drive that ensures last mile connectivity – from cut to crown. We are proud to be the only salon brand that not only put efforts to collect hair throughhair donation drives but also invests in making wigs and ensuring it’s handed over to Adyar Cancer Institute, so that every donation made, reaches a beneficiary”.
Elaborating further Mr. Deepak said“As part of the Green Trends Shair program a unique ‘Shaircut’ has been developed by the Green Trends’ R&D team which ensures no visible change in the donors’ current hairstyle. A donor candonate as little or as much as they want, only requirement is hair should be 10 inches long. 700+ stylists are trained specifically in Shaircut. All Green Trends salons across the country is open for general public between 4th February ’22 to 4th March ’22 to visit and donate their hair free of cost” .
Commenting about the launch of the 6th year of the Green Trends Shair program , Mr. Gopalakrishnan, Dr. SurendranVeeraiah, Professor & Head of Department of Psycho-oncology from Cancer Institute (WIA),who received the wigs on behalf of Adyar Cancer. Institute said“As part of chemo treatment, the patient could lose hair temporarily. This affects their morale and hence wigs are recommended to give them confidence and avoid social stigma. Wigs made of synthetic hair could cause irritation which could cause further discomfort to a patient who already is undergoing difficulties due to chemo treatment. Hence wigs made of human hair is recommended, and such wigs are expensive and out of reach to the underprivileged cancer patients. I am happy to acknowledge the support by the Green Trends Shair program, that provides high quality wigs free of cost to the Adyar cancer Institute that is distributed to deserving patients”
