Aarush Suryanarayanan wins Grand Prize at the IRIS National Fair 2024!
Aarush Suryanarayanan, a resident of Saligramam, Chennai, and a class 10 student of Devi Academy Senior Secondary School, Valasaravakkam won the Grand Prize in the Physics and Astronomy category at the Initiative for Research and Innovation in STEM (IRIS) National Fair in New Delhi. Aarush will be representing India at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024) in Los Angeles, United States of America in May 2024 where he will compete with participants from 75 other countries.
Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India interacted with and felicitated the 20 winners of the IRIS National Fair 2024 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. He said that these young innovators are the future of India and the sky is the limit for their ideas. Team India will showcase their projects at Vigyan Bhawan and meet with Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology on 28th February 2024 during the National Science Day organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India.
The IRIS National Fair is a program for students of class 5 to 12 jointly supported by the Department of Science and Technology and Broadcom, and organized by the Exstemplar Education Linkers Foundation. IRIS promotes and nurtures Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) research among young Indian innovators. The IRIS National Fair is conducted annually in India for school students, who compete in 21 subject categories. Grand Prize winners of the IRIS National Fair go on to represent India at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the USA every year.
