The accused Megaboob Basha and his associates Radha Krishnan, Selvam and Kannan were residing at Padianallur Chennai have been committing the crime of stealing gold jewels particularly from the aged ladies diverting their attention by creating them fear of criminals loitering in the near by places, make them to remove their gold jewels and pack them in a paper and put it in her bag, while handing over the same to the lady he will divert her attention and change the cover and escaped with the booties in his auto rickshaw.
On 17.08.2015 the same criminals managed to get away with 15 sovereign of jewels from a elderly lady Jayalakshmi for which a case was registered. A special team with the head MGR Nagar Police Station crime inspector Tr.Siddarth was formed. The special team while checking the footages of CCTV cameras installed by the Ashok Nagar Police Station near that spot the auto rickshaw used by the criminals was found. Immediately assiduous and commendable efforts were made by the special team all the accused were secured. In pursuance of their confession gold jewells about 100 sovereigns relating to 30 cases have been recovered .

Shivalingam translated four books of Dr.Abdul Kalam
M. Shivalingam has translated 4 books of Dr. A. P. J. Kalam in Tamil.
The translated books of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam’s Autobiography, ‘Wings of Fire’ as ‘Agni Siragugal’ that is a record breaker with a selling of over 10 Lakh copies. Other three books penned by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam namely ‘Ignited Minds’, ‘Envisioning an Empowered Nation’, ‘Guiding Souls’ were translated as ‘Ezhuchi Deepangal’, ‘Udhayamagiradhu Valimai Padaitha Bharatham’ and ‘En Vanin Gnyana Chudargal’ .
He said that the book ‘Ezhuchi Deepangal’ gained me the Best Translator Award in the year 2004 by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Shivalingam said that first he approached the Gandhi Kannadhasan (Publisher of Kannadasan Pathipaggam, T.Nagar) for rights of Tamil translation of Kalam’s Wings of Fire. After repeated effort from the publisher, rights obtained and it tooks for him 4 months for translation work, he added.
He said that he met Dr. Kalam after publishing ‘‘Agni Siragugal’ the one and half year at a book release function held in Chennai and later he got opportunity met few times regarding various programs.
He authored ‘Vizhi Velvi’, a biography of Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy, an internationally acclaimed ophthalmologist and recipient of the Padmashri Award who founded the world renowned ‘Aravind Eye Care System’ in Tamil Nadu. This book carried a forward from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and was released by him.
Shivalingam have translated over 20 books from English to Tamil that had a wide reach among the literary groups and the public - ‘I too had a dream’, An autobiography of the father of White Revolution, Verghese Kurien as ‘Enakkum Oru Kanavu ’, - autoBiography of Mrinal Sen, Bengali Film Maker – ‘Always Being Born’ as ‘Indru Pudhidhai Pirandhen’ and - Helen Keller’s Autobiography ‘My Story’ as ‘En Kadhai’
Shivalingam began is carrier as journalist in Dinamalar Daily at Coimbatore, Erode Edition (1983-86), served in various media it includes Sub Editor in Dinamani (1987) , India Today (Tamil, 1992-94) and Jaya Tv network (2006-13).
He is also contributing columns in daily newspapers and weekly magazines.
